Summer of Suspense: Baker Family Adventures, Book 1
When Phil, Abby, Andy, and Tom Baker hear that their cousin Millie will visit their farm for the summer, little do they imagine what a dreary time they will have with the snobbish girl. But when Millie disappears, life quickly becomes anything but dreary.
What starts out as a summer of chores and horse-riding on the farm turns into a cross-country adventure, as the Bakers find themselves matching wits with a notorious jewelry thief who pulls them into her web. Aided by a seasoned detective, the Bakers confront numerous dangers in their search for Millie, all while attempting to foil the plot of a major crime ring — making it a summer they will never forget.

"The silvery moonlight shone through the small window as Abby pushed the makeshift key into the lock and turned it. There was a sliding sound as the lock slowly slid back, and a quiet thud as it hit home. Abby, her heart beating wildly, gently pushed the heavy door and it swung open. The two girls stepped gingerly out of the inky blackness and into the silvery light of the world outside..."

"Johnny looked out his bedroom window. He knew that outside were the gardens, and beyond them the stone walls that surrounded his father’s huge house, and beyond the walls, the green hills of Scotland. He smelled the clover, wet and fragrant, and the new-mown grass. Though he could see none of it through the fog, he smelled it and he felt it. He had planned this for a long, long time. For Johnny belonged to what was known as a ‘God-fearing’ family, and he was weary of the rules that went along with it..."
In an age when young people are all too often presented with heroes of the wrong kind, this true story of the adventurous Scottish preacher who defied the Kings of England and France' is a great encouragement to look to godly role models. A valuable addition to any junior library.

I got this book wanting to find a biography series for my kids. I had heard of Trail Blazers series before but this is the first in the series that I've read. I read this via my Kindle App in a short amount of time. I'll be recommending this series to my kids along with picking up some more for myself. Great way to learn of those who have made an impact for Christ.
